This ASIC-based FDDI SmartSwitch module doubles the dedicated FDDI port density of the SmartSwitch 9000 to 28 ports per chassis-one of the highest in the industry for enterprise and backbone switching applications. Use this SmartSwitch to connect two external FDDI networks to the SmartSwitch 9000 high-speed switching backplane through the module's dual A/B ports that can be configured to operate in Full Duplex Switched FDDI mode. Each port will then provide a dedicated 200 Mbps of bandwidth for connections to file servers, high-end workstations, or other switches within the network.
