Swords and Scimitars4
This title is a gaming companion for Osprey's Field of Glory wargaming series, featuring army lists, gaming and historical notes, Osprey artwork, and photographs of suitable miniatures. It focuses on the Middle East and the Balkans from the late 11th to the mid 13th Centuries, covering the armies of Byzantium, Fatimid Egypt, Salah al-Din ibn Ayyub's empire, and the Mamluks that replaced it, as well as the Turks, independent Arab states, and of course the barbarian Franj - known to westerners as the Crusaders.

Army Lists5
This book contains the following army lists:

EARLY CRUSADER, EARLY CRUSADER ALLIES, LATER CRUSADER, LATER CRUSADER ALLIES, FATIMID EGYPTIAN, FATIMID EGYPTIAN ALLIES, GEORGIAN, GEORGIAN ALLIES, SELJUK TURK, SELJUK TURK ALLIES, CUMAN, CUMAN ALLIES, LATER ALAN ALLIES, KOMNENAN BYZANTINE, KOMNENAN BYZANTINE ALLIES, CILICIAN ARMENIAN, CILICIAN ARMENIAN ALLIES, SYRIAN STATES, SYRIAN STATES ALLIES, ARAB CITIES, BEDOUIN, KHWARAZMIAN, KHWARAZMIAN ALLIES, AYYUBID EGYPTIAN, MIDDLE SERBIAN, MIDDLE SERBIAN ALLIES, MIDDLE BULGARIAN, MIDDLE BULGARIAN ALLIES, MEDIEVAL CYPRIOT, MEDIEVAL CYPRIOT ALLIES, POST LATIN CONQUEST BYZANTINE, POST LATIN CONQUEST BYZANTINE ALLIES, LATIN GREECE, LATIN GREECE ALLIES, ILKHANID MONGOL, ILKHANID MONGOL ALLIES, MAMLUK EGYPTIAN, MAMLUK EGYPTIAN ALLIES

Well Done4
While not my favorite period, like all the other supplements to the Fields of Glory series by Osprey, it is well done and includes information from their books series (Elite) throughout. Designed for a 4' by 6' battle area and 15mm to 28mm figures. If you like the Crusades, get it.
