This is a very nicely done graphic novel by Alan Moore. It has some implications towards the Joker's origin. It also contains a very important piece of Batman mythology that still stands to this day.

A wonderful little story about loss of a loved one and responsibility.

This is the sequel to Dark Knight Returns. However, it is terrible and I'm only listing it as a reference if you really want to read it. But, I've warned you.

Many consider this to be one of the best Batman books ever written. I disagree. However, it's one of the best drawn Batman books ever. Tim Sale knows how to draw the caped crusader well. This book is also available in an Absolute edition. However, I recommend reading this version first before dropping an extra $30 for larger pages.

The first part of another set of books by Jeph Loeb. This book introduces a new villain into Batman's life. This book is available in an Absolute edition and a softcover complete collection that will hit later this year.

This is a wonderful Joker origin story by Doug Mahnke and Ed Brubaker. The book also contains a back story featuring the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott.

Technically, this is the book that follows Batman and Son. However, it is not necessary reading in Morrison's overall Batman story. It is an enjoyable read and it crosses over with Detective Comics, Robin and Nightwing.

This is the third part in Morrison's Batman run. Many people consider this the end. However, it's not. His run will continue in Batman and Robin, which starts this June. This is a Deluxe Edition book. It's a hardcover, but it's slightly bigger than a standard hardcover.
