One of the best film noirs, in my opinion. It was shot in less than a week and is VERY low budget. Despite that, it is entertaining, haunting, and features one of the nastiest (and sexy) femme fatales ever.

Crime Wave: A great little crime thriller that stars Sterling Hayden and Charles Bronson. That alone is excellent. Decoy: Not as realistic as Crime Wave but has an interesting plot and the ending has a tough little twist to it that'll make you grin with satisfaction. You can get both of these movies in a boxed set with other noirs which I recommend doing.

Kubrick's first crime thriller. Very low budget but Kubrick makes up for it in the creative directing. The one flaw is the chase scene at the end which could have been shaved by a minute or two. Other than that, recommended.

It's labeled a noir.. but I guess there could be some debate. Palance shows what a great actor he is by playing an actor. It sounds like it wouldn't work but it does. It's based on a play and you can tell (most of it takes place in one house). Entertaining.

The hitmen in the beginning probably influenced Tarantino's hitmen from Pulp Fiction. The Killers is an excellent example of film noir. This edition includes the remake (which has Lee Marvin and Ronald Reagan) but it is not nearly as good... being it was made for TV. Stick with the original.

One of the best heist movies of all time. This one showed the criminals as real people with real life problems. The criminals weren't cardboard "heavies". This movie is near perfect.

This isn't as tough as some of the others but this is entertaining as hell and shows just how much trouble you can get into if you hang around the wrong person. If you ever had a domineering boss, you should watch this movie.

A tight little boxing noir starring Robert Ryan. Excellent. This influenced Raging Bull.

One of the classics. A guy walks into a police station to report a murder: his own! Pretty hectic and not too realistic.. but entertaining.

The movie I wanted was TIGHT SPOT. It's not available in the US yet.. but it should be. Ginger Rogers is tough and sexy as a witness being protected by the police who are trying to convince her to testify against an organized crime boss.

Filled with film noir but still missing quite a few. I can't wait for an updated edition.
