This is an absolute favorite of all my school kids! We place a tracing page under the screen and create awesome designs that the kids could never draw on their own! My kids have perceptual fine motor difficulties, and tracing is an excellent way to develop eye-hand coordination. This comes with a variety pack of pictures to trace, but you can also purchase theme packs as well. I have dinosaurs and sea creatures. You slip the picture under the screen, trace the design, then remove the picture for stunning results! The markers are transparent, so the picture "glows" when finished. Tracing is easier if you turn out the lights in the room and turn on the light on the doodle board so that the child can see the marker lines as he traces. I have also found that the best way to clean the screen is to use a damp cloth to wash, and a soft cloth to dry the screen. After my kids trace a design, we ask other students if they can guess what has been drawn; the kids enjoy this. The screen can also blink like a neon sign!

Good Idea...bad product
The Doodle Pro Glow is a wonderful idea, however not for 3 years olds (as it states on the box). The "tracing" element is a great thing for my five year old, but the three year old just gets REALLY super frustrated...and of course, wants to do it himself.

THEN there's the element of cleaning off the screen once it's been doodled on. They provide you with an "eraser" and make you think that it's as simple as wiping it down. Ah! Not so. The eraser is simply a small piece of sponge, which you have to get damp. When you wipe the screen, it smears everything all around without really "erasing" anything. You will need a separate dry towel that you can alternate with the sponge - as it takes more than one (or two, or three) swipes to get the screen clean. One more thing...beware, the screen cracks easily. We have three cracks on the brand-new screen, and we've only used it twice...both times with constant adult supervision!

Unless you just have a LOT of time to wash a screen (as you spend more time "erasing" than you do drawing) than I would suggest something else. Truth be told...he has more fun with his chaulkboard!

MARKERS STAIN!!!
The toy is fun for kids, HOWEVER....the markers stain! Your clothes, their clothes....it is bad. My son is within the recommended age for use but while wiping the markers off he was holding the marker in his hand and got it on his shirt. I can't get it off - have tried everything! DON'T BUY THIS OR LET THEM PLAY IN OLD CLOTHES!

Not for a 3 year old..
My son got this for his 3rd birthday and it's too difficult & messy for him. Adult supervision is definitely required since it gives you several markers...a 3 year old with a marker is not a good thing. The sponge 'eraser' has to be damp and you then have to wipe it with a dry cloth to completely remove the marks. Older kids might enjoy this a little more.
