Customer Reviews
Basic Design. Good Value
This seat has a fairly basic design. It works well, and so far seems to be an excellent value. I was previously using a kitchen chair to play, and this drum stool is definitely an improvement.
The base feels nice and solid. It has enough weight to make it sturdy, but not too heavy to make transport difficult.
The seat is nice and cushy and seems to mold well. I have sat in it while playing for a couple of hours straight and it still felt nice and soft at the end of the session.
The height adjustment is done with a bolt through the post, so there is no possibility of the seat migrating downwards over time. There are five height settings, and I use the second highest one. I am 5'7", so someone who is over 6 feet may want to look for a chair that can adjust higher than this one.
On the box it is proudly proclaimed that this stool is "Compatible with Rock Band Drum Controllers". I found that this stool is also compatible with Guitar Hero Drum Controllers. After quite a bit of testing I also found that it is also compatible with TV watching, beer drinking, and cribbage playing. Wow!!
Overall I am happy with this purchase. It's missing some things that higher-end drum stools have, but it works well and is a very good value.
It's a drum seat...and it works!
This is simply a seat to use with your Rock Band (or, in the future, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2) drum set. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I did not see warnings or notices listed here on Amazon or at the store where I bought it, but the seat does have a sticker underneath the base that says it's "Not intended to support more than 200 pounds." So, if you're heavier or are planning to buy this for someone who is, make sure that you're aware of this limitation. Other than that, it does exactly what it's advertised to do and it's relatively easy to assemble. Can't complain about that.
Sturdy and cheap, but broke after a few months
Picked up this drum seat for $30 and it's worth it...but be careful with it. We had it up pretty high and the metal rod broke in half. Really, it's nothing a little welding won't fix, but it's something that could have been easily prevented by the manufacturer. Another reviewer has mentioned this as well, so apparently tall people might want to look for other options. It held up really well for a few months though. If it didn't break in half, I'd give it 5 stars. But cheapo manufacturing means only 2 stars.
