Customer Reviews
Great product and great deal
If already have the Hitachi batteries for other tools, this is a great addition. Works really well. The LED feature is largely worthless to me since it emits so little light, but I didn't really buy it for that. The Fluorescent tube gives a lot of light.
Subsequent EDIT: I'm going to add an additional comment. I've discovered that the light has a tendency to think the battery is drained when it is not. So the light automatically switches from flourescent mode into LED mode. If you shut it off for a 20 or 30 seconds and turn it back on again, it works, but it's a bit annoying. I suspect what happens is that sometimes the battery starts to get too hot after it's been used for 20 or 30 minutes (maybe a little more) and starts to limit current as a protective measure. It may be that this light was designed for the older (NiCad?) style batteries and, even though it's also theoretically compatible with the new Lithium Ion batteries, this little quirk shows up. Or perhaps 18v is too much for it even though it says it can take 14.4 to 18v. It's not the end of the world, but I would probably rerate it to 4 stars if I could.
Nice Light
This is a nice light, I agree the LED portion is worthless, but the other light is great!
