Surprisingly effective...pretty and cozy a bonus!
This turned out to be one of the better kitchen gizmos I've ordered. When I received it I had my doubts; the glass appears to be very thin and fragile. I was afraid if I actually used it with a candle and a teapot it would shatter, but no!

The glass base has an indentation to hold the tea light candle in place, and the bowl area has nice size holes that keep it from getting too hot. You put the teapot on a metal lid with decorative cutouts that fits over the bowl. I was worried that the open flame would leave soot or scorch marks on the teapot, but it's perfectly clean.

The whole set up has a very pretty, cozy look - much more so than an electric warmer. The little flame does an amazing job at keeping the tea quite hot! I used it with an 8 cup ceramic teapot and the tea stayed hot and nice until the candle burned itself out - almost three hours.

Some caveats: 1) be sure to remove any tea bags or strainers, otherwise the tea will turn bitter, 2) don't add milk to the teapot - it will skim over, which is unpleasant, and 3) NEVER EVER leave a flame unattended.

Highly recommended for those who love a hot cup of tea and a cozy feel in the kitchen!

Clear as a bell
This is a nice little tea warmer. I keep the tea candle wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch, and I have no problems with soot or smoke. (This works on all candles.)
It keeps my tea quite warm, although if it is very chilly or there is an a/c vent blowing in the area, my tea isn't piping hot. But that's nothing bad about the tea warmer, it's about drafts.
I like it. If I had to do it over, I'd buy it again.

You get what you pay for!
This tea warmer is made with very thin glass and a cheap-looking metal top which corrodes easily. If I had it to do over, I would buy something nicer and more sturdy which would last longer.
