In Fly-Fishing for Smallmouth, Bob Clouser shares the extensive knowledge he has developed over a quarter-century of guiding for smallmouth bass on the Susquehanna River. In sections on casting and presentations, he discusses intermediate to advanced methods of casting with weighted flies and lines as well as various surface and subsurface tactics, with dramatic color photos of the author demonstrating how it's done.

Bob has designed a series of flies especially for smallmouth, and he reveals recipes and fishing tips for these flies and the other bass patterns he regularly uses and carries in his fly box. Bob Clouser is also the author of Clouser's Flies (0-8117-0148-4), which contains complete instructions for tying his renowned patterns. He and his wife, Joan, own and operate Clouser's Fly Shop near their home in Middletown, Pennsylvania.

This is one of the best written books on fly fishing for smallmouth bass, if not the best. It is presented in a way that anyone can pick it up and learn something about catching smallmouth bass in rivers. And it has enough pictures to keep anyone entertained. I've read many books on bass fishing and this is one of the best!

Clouser is awesome!
Although I have not read the entire book, what I have read is fantastic. Bob Clouser is a living legend when it comes to smallmouth fishing & to read his thoughts on the subject is great. This book in combination with his other book Clouser's Flies are probably two of the most informative books I have in my fishing library. A must buy for anyone wanting to learn more about smallmouth bass fishing!
