| Eurabia denotes a dystopian scenario where Europe merges with the Islamic world, and the alleged process of political and cultural Islamisation of Europe. Like Nineteen Eighty-Four, the term is used to oppose the dystopian scenario, and is intentionally pejorative. The term was popularised by Bat Ye'or, and at first referred primarily to European-Arab hostility to Israel, and European (EEC) support for the PLO. Since then, its meaning has expanded and shifted. It is now primarily used to describe an alleged transformation of the European Union, where Islam becomes the dominant value system, and the population consists increasingly of Muslims. (Usage of the term is no longer limited to Europe's relationship with the Arab world). The term is generally used in combination with dhimmitude, denoting an alleged attitude of concession, surrender and appeasement towards Islamic demands. -- from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia | ||
