Excellent Overview of a Brief Life's Work
I recently became interested in Paula Modersohn-Becker thanks to an excellent book called "Voicing our Visions" (ISBN 0876636091) featuring writings by women artists. I had never heard of PMB before and became curious about her.

This book is an excellent overview of her life and work. The TOC is broken down to:

Introduction
PMB & Worspwede
Images of Women
Children
Peasants
Landscape & Still Life
Portraits and Self Portraits

The chapters include analysis of her work, as well as quotes from PMB's own writing. There are 25 color plates as well as 93 b&w illustrations.

The reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is simply that I wish there were more color plates included, particularly since the text speaks so much about her use of color. It's frustrating to then look at a black and white image.

I am now reading "Paula Modersohn-Becker - The Letters & Journals" (ISBN 0800862643) as a follow-up, which I'm greatly enjoying.
