Product Description

After a long winter vacation, Humphrey the hamster can’t wait to see his friends in Room 26 again. But on the first day back he gets a big surprise: Room 26 has a new class pet, Og the frog! Humphrey can’t wait to be friends with Og, but Og doesn’t seem interested. To make matters worse, the students are so interested in Og, they almost stop paying attention to Humphrey altogether. Luckily he still gets to go home with different kids on the weekends and help them out with their problems. Humphrey knows that friendship can be a tricky business, but if any hamster can become buddies with a frog, Humphrey can!

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
Grade 2-4 - The adorable and intelligent hamster introduced in The World According to Humphrey (Putnam, 2004) is dismayed to find that he shares his status as classroom pet with a frog. Try as he might, Humphrey cannot seem to make friends with Og, who just splashes him or says "BOING!" The little rodent, who can secretly write, learn, and get out of his cage, also uses his wits to effect positive outcomes of the various subplots, including a new girl who won't talk and has trouble making friends, two pals who get into a terrible fight, a bully who causes trouble on the bus, and the janitor who dreams of going back to college. The theme of friendship is as pervasive as the title implies, making this chapter book a charming read-aloud. Pair this tale with Frank Asch's Survival School (S & S, 2003) for an appreciation of animals in the classroom. - Debbie Whitbeck, West Ottawa Public Schools, Holland, MI

Friendship According to Humphrey is the BEST!!!5
Friendship According to Humphrey is the sequel to the book, World According to Humphrey. This will teach you about teamwork and friendship. I give this 5 stars.
This book takes place in room 26 and there is a little main hamster named Humphrey who sees the true meaning of friendship with another little main Frog named Og. This unexpected fellow goes BOING! Instead of RIBBIT! Next Humphrey meets Aldo again and Humphrey finds out that Aldo will start teaching Room 26. That's all I'm going to give you.

Humphrey ROCKS!!!5
I am a 5th grader (...), CO, and I loved Humphrey's tale! The first person narrative by Humphrey, who is a hamster - a "golden hamster" he likes to call himself - reveals what is would be like to be a hamster. The book was both funny and exciting. I highly reccomend this book!

They're very good5
I got this for my 6 year old son who loves hamsters. He loved the series! It's the first long book he sat through - had me read the first one in a day after starting with the second (this one) in the series.

He says "It's a really good book and you've got to try it!"
