Russian-US Cooperation in Space
The space race of the 1960's gave way to Russian-US cooperation in space in the 1990's. This book gives historical background, and then focuses on the long-duration earth-orbital flights that employed the MIR space station. The US shuttles and Russian Soyuz spacecraft are also featured.
The single volume is full of excellent photographs (both the inside and outside of spacecraft), and also includes a CD-rom. There are biographical blurbs on the US astronauts and the Russian cosmonauts. Statistics are provided (lengths and weights) of the modules comprising the MIR space station. There are descriptions of the joint training sessions of US and Russian space personnel.
Finally, there is a photograph and reconstruction of the MIR station's entry into the atmosphere, and its breakup over the southern Pacific Ocean near the Fiji Islands.
