Kosoff, author of Good Old-Fashioned Cakes ( LJ 6/15/89), includes a good introductory section, and the recipes are clearly written, but many of them are readily accessible in sources such as The Joy of Cooking. Debbie Fields's Mrs. Fields Cookie Book ( LJ 8/92) is a good recent collection of simple cookie recipes. An optional purchase.
