Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
Grade 1-3-- A book that will be asked for again and again! Mystery 1: Ted thought he'd gone to the Halloween party with his best friend (dressed as a monster), but Danny had been home sick in bed. Who was the monster? Mystery 2: Was the new doll really shouting and scowling at spoiled Sara Beth during the night? Mystery 3: When the Greens moved into their new house they find a shaggy dog and an old picture inside. The next day, the dog disappears--and and appears in the picture. O'Connor's text will catch the attention of beginning readers, and Karas's numerous illustrations enhance the mood. Eek! will tingle the spine, tickle the funny bone, and delight young supernatural buffs. --Gale W. Sherman, Pocatello Public Library, ID

Spooky stories that are perfect for new readers!5
If your younger elementary aged child is looking for a spooky thrills, this is a great book to buy. The well written stories are very suspenseful and mysterious. Another great collection of spooky stories for beginning readers is I DARE YOU! STORIES TO SCARE YOU! by Kathleen Keeler (Scholastic, 1999). Working in the public schools, I've discovered that even children who are struggling with reading, gobble up these two exciting books.
