Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Ages 4-8. First published in 1973 by Ginn and Company, this short fantasy now appears in picture-book format with an introductory note about unicorns, griffins, and alchemists. A unicorn who loves the moon is distressed to find it stuck between two hills, which have trapped the moon in order to keep its light for themselves. After consulting a griffin and an alchemist, the unicorn tricks the hills into releasing the moon. As gentle, pleasant, and insubstantial as moonlight, the tale serves as a vehicle for the artwork. The simple paintings feature overlays of blues, greens, and whites, outlined in black. A simple fantasy that will please young unicorn lovers. Carolyn Phelan

Customer Reviews

The Unicorn and the Moon was a fabulous book5
This is a book by Tomie dePaola. It is called The Unicorn and the Moon. This book is a little silly. It's about a moon having a problem that the unicorn helps him with. The moon's problem is he is trapped between two big rocks. She fails a couple of times, but finally she helps him.

My favorite part is one of the times she tries to help the moon but fails. It is really funny. It is also a bad idea that tickles the moon!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Tomie dePaola, especially 2,3,4 graders. It is a relay good book! You should read it.

There are more books like this. For example, The Day of the Blake Bird, and The Legion of the Persian Carpet. You should read them all!
