the mystery deepens5
My 8-year-old son is a big fan of the bionicle toys and I think his initial interest had a lot to do with the bionicle books series. I'm sure many people look at these books as just a marketing ploy, but they are so much more than that. A rich history, full of mystery, adventure and action have been brought to life in all of the bionicle series. The "Legends" series is no exception. Our copies of "Power Play" and "Dark Destiny" arrived the day before we left for San Diego to visit Legoland. My son brought them on the plane along with his gameboy. He became so engrossed in the books that the gameboy didn't get any play! He read straight through! A few weeks later I picked up the books and found out for myself why. The story of the Toa, Matoran, Inika, and Piraka is fantastic. This series is by far more involved than any of the past Bionicle book series. By the end of "Power Play" I was thirsting for more and once through "Dark Destiny" could not wait for the next book to see what was going to happen! I highly recommend the books for boys and girls alike, particularly if they are in to the bionicles. Even if they are not big readers, the interest in the stories will convert them!

9 Year Old Fan Gives 5 Stars5
My 9 year old son is a Bionicle maniac and loved this book. He asked me to read it to him aloud, but I found the experience unpleasant due to the complicated names, etc. (Yes, I am actually a decent reader!) However, he has all of the characters memorized and breezes through. The Bionicle books have increased his creative and dramatic play with the toys. He has reread this book multiple times. If your child enjoys the Bionicle toys, all of the books in this series are a winner. Note-I imagine that this book is in the 4th grade reading level range.
