Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
Grade 2-5-- An excellent introductory biography of the renowned jurist. Greene presents a portrait of the man in a straightforward, easy-to-read text that gives children a look at his life and the forces that shaped it. Black-and-white photographs enrich the narrative and provide additional personal facts and relevant details about the times in which he lived. Background information about segregation as it existed in the United States until 1954 is simply stated to give today's readers an understanding of the significance of the Brown v. the Board of Education of Topeka decision. The author does a credible job of presenting the forces that made Marshall a champion of equality.
