Editorial Reviews
Review
Kinky Friedman first made his name as a musical humorist cum country singer with the Texas Jewboys and was once voted Male Chauvinist Pig of the Year. So when a Jewish country singer turns his hand to a little amateur sleuthing in downtown New York, you know you are in for an entertaining read. In this trio of escapades, published for the first time in paperback, we find the Kinkster matching his wits and paranoia against a typically colourful selection of foes such as old SS officers and pet murderers. The plots have more twists and turns than a country road. Mix that in with manic surreal Texan/Jewish humour and you have the recipe for a lot of fun. (Kirkus UK)

A great follow-up combo
I'd suggest this collection as a rearguard to the one beginning with A Case of Lone Star. This grouping of the Kinkster's mysteries into single volumes seems to me to be a great way to introduce more mystery novel lovers to the works of Kinky Friedman. You'll surely appreciate the observations on human nature, the tight plotting, the characters and maybe the cat.
I believe these are the only two collections of Kinky's work, so you'll have to buy the others I'm confident you'll covet individually. Which you'll do. Meanwhile, go listen to a few of Kinky's songs, the ones all those who love them would rather hear than almost any C&W produced by any artist since.
