Don't Misunderstand the Purpose of a Children's Book5
Ok, so right, I can't disagree with most of what that other person had to say... the story is pretty generic... but for someone who grew up listening to this generic story read to them by their mother or father, the book is priceless. What this means is, some day my children are going to have to hear this generic bedtime story too, so they can pass it on and under-enthuse their own children. That "2-Star Rater" obviously doesn't get the very nature of a children's book to begin with... it's for children... how much plot do they think it should have.

And as for "hobo" as a word, "housing impaired" simply doesn't evoke the same imagery. Additionally, anyone who is so bleeding-heart as to consider the term prejudicial or insulting should have been sterilized long ago.

The book's ok...

An average children's book2
I received this book when I was a child back in the mid-1980s. The story is average at best and the plot of the story doesn't make much sense. The biggest problem with the book was the main character, Hobo Dog. Hobo lived by the railroad tracks in a small shack. Because he has a home, he isn't really a hobo (the term hobo usually refers to a homeless person in search of work). Also, the term hobo is derogatory to some people, which could be a problem for a children's book. On another note, the illustrations are acceptable, but nothing special.
