Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Grade 4-6-Nothing in sixth grader Blaise Malone's favorite horror stories has prepared her to cope with the walking, talking mummy that appears in her living room one night. Although Horemheb puts on an imperious air, he is actually a small-time temple thief who has been on the run from the Egyptian god Anubis for 3,000 years. He needs Blaise's help to recover his coffin and his book of protective spells before Anubis and his monstrous Eater of the Dead catch up with him. While the idea of a cowardly, whining mummy is moderately amusing, the action is predictable, right down to Horemheb's climactic, self-sacrificing confrontation with the dark forces. This title has none of the literary quality of John Bellairs or Joan Aiken's books, but it will fill a need where series fiction is in demand.
