Adorable little book for Dora fans
My kids LOVE Dora and this sturdy little board book is the perfect introduction to counting in English and Spanish. They can pick out the various fruits, even the unusual ones like guavas and mangos, which are regular favorites in our home, and the bright and colorful pages keep them happily counting the fruit from one to ten.
There is even a handy little pronunciation bubble at the bottom on each page which comes in handy for me since I'm not bilingual but my husband is and we're trying to get our kids to speak Spanish and English while they are still young.
The fact that this book is small makes it the perfect companion in the car and the heavy board pages stand up well to toddler hands.
My son loves this!
My 22 month old son is totally head-over-heels with Dora, and he also loves enjoys counting activities. We just got this book yesterday, and he's already had us read it over and over. The numbers are very easy to find on the page, and the pictures are very cute and simple.
We aren't using the Spanish part of the book yet. Tico the squirrel (who, as all good Dora fans know, only speaks Spanish) presents the Spanish word in the corner of each page. My son always points to Tico, but the picture is done in a very non-distracting way.
Good basic counting book
If your child likes Dora, this is a good book to have in the library. It is a board book, so it holds up well to wear. When my daughter likes a book she tens to read it over and over, so durability is important. I like the fact that she counts fruit, but some of the fruits are a little obscure for my daughter to remember- I've never seen a guava so I can't imagine how she will make the connection. I like having the numbers written in Spanish, and the phonetic pronunciation guide is helpful as well.
This is also good if you own any of the videos, because Dora counts a lot, and the repetion of the numbers is helpful.
