Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Grade 2-3-Simple sentences; large type; and colorful illustrations, many of them full-page, make the story of this intriguing woman easy to read. The text is filled with Earhart's many exciting adventures, from a near collision between her snow sled and a horse-drawn cart when she was young to a stormy ride as an adult across the Atlantic in an ill-equipped airplane. The art shows Earhart at different stages of her life as well as fashions and lifestyles of the times. A time line appears in the back of the book, but there is no index. The tendency to subtitle each chapter with dates and then go on to describe events that happened earlier is slightly disconcerting. Quibbles aside, this biography is a solid choice for newly independent readers.

Amelia Earhart
I bought this to use in my 6th grade reading classroom. It is excellent to use to teach reading skills such as main idea, author's purpose, or summarizing. I put it in a center and students have 10 minutes to use the book for an assignment. Since it is at a lower reading level, students have success in building skills to use in higher level texts.
This book is a good addition to the grade 1-6 classroom library.
Interesting, educational
This is an interesting and informative book on Amelia's life from childhood through her disapperance. That said, I bought this for my first grader and it was a little too advanced for her.
Great info for school projects
My daughter in 3rd grade had to choose an American hero and she chose Amelia Earhart for her project. This book was so wonderful for her. It is the perfect reading level for her as it describes as level 3. Also it has a great map of all of Amelia Earhart's flights as well as her life from birth to when she went missing. I think the material in the book is extremely helpful and I highly recommend it.
