It's Christmas Eve, and Howie the dachshund puppy is scared. Who is this big guy in the red suit who's going to come down the Monroes' chimney with a huge sack over his shoulder? Chester isn't scared of Santa; it's the Christmas ghosts he's worried about (and, of course, Bunnicula). So when there's a loud CRASH from the basement, he and Harold have to investigate -- to make sure the Monroes have a merry Christmas, not a scary Christmas.

Editorial Reviews
From Publishers Weekly
Harold, Chester and Bunnicula return in the tale of Howie the dachshund puppy's first Christmas: Will Howie escape the clutches of that "big fat man in a red suit?" PW enjoyed the story's lively pace and "sprightly illustrations." Ages 5-8.

From the Inside Flap
Have yourself a scary little christmas. . . .
Christopher hates Christmas. He calls it a howl-iday, not a holiday. The fat man in a red suit? Santa Claws. That eight-reindeer vehicle? A slay. And Chris isn't kidding. Welcome to Christmas at Graveyard School. It's sure to be very merry. And very, very scary. You'll be dying to go to class at Graveyard School. It's sure to be very merry. And very, very scary.

We love this series
All of our children are heavy readers, and my pair of 4th graders love these books, Howe keeps them on the edge of their seats with all of his books.
Terrific Book for 5 to 7 year olds
My children (5 and 7) both loved this book. Both could read it easily. The longer Bunnicula books are much more humorous, but these books are probably easier for a 5 or 6 year old to read and comprehend.
