A great resource
I also borrowed this book from the library and now I'm definately going to buy it! It gives all the basics like most other books, but the sections on crocheting garments and shaping makes it stand out for me. The clear directions and photos were what I needed to help me get over my apprehension of crocheting a sweater. And a correction to the previous review - there is a "Yarn Detail" section in the back of the book that lists the yarns and colors used in the projects in the book.
Overall, this is a must-have for any crochet library.
Lovely Book
I saw this book on Amazon, but decided to check it out from the library first to preview it before buying it. I'm very pleased with. The photography is lovely, and the directions seem very clear. It has a wealth of crochet tips and instructions, along with a stitch guide. Unlike most other stitch guides however, it also has patterns - 30 of them. My only complaint is that the patterns do not list the actual brand of yarn used - they'll just say for example, "lightweight cotton/microfiber yarn". Addionally, it also only gives the weight of the skeins (3 grams, for example) rather than listing the actual yardage. As yarn can vary greatly in weight, that isn't much help with determing how much yarn is needed for a project. Overall however, I really like the book, and plan to purchase it soon.
Nancy's opinion
