A brilliant pack
I recently attended a family wedding and during a quiet time during the meal this pack was produced and it was a wow! Every one could make one and wizz it around the room. And then there were lots more to build and fly. Fortunately some people had scissors or penknives as some planes needed cutting. Lots of different shapes.
A wonderful activity for any party! Oh yes you could even use it for telling you the day of the year but we did not wait!!
My son couldn't get enough of this collection!
This collection is fantastic, and our child of ten couldn't get enough of it! What separates this paper airplane kit from others most is its compact size and its terrific organization. The fold lines for each airplane (or helicopter, or satellite model) are printed right on each calendar page, so you can never LOSE the directions, and they are relatively easy to follow. There are about 12 designs which repeat over the course of the year. Each day of the calendar is also a removable page which folds into one of the models, and each day has it's own unique paper design.
There are two models which may prove a little frustrating for a child of this age, and parents may have to step in and offer guidance on these the first time they are tried.. Luckily, however, some of the simplest planes fly the most beautifully, and if you screw up on one model, you'll get several more chances to retry it.
Caveat: There is one plane which has a fold which requires a little paper folding experience to understand at first, and two planes which involve taping or glueing on a wing that don't quite work as well as the planes that don't require this extra step.
One of the best gifts we gave our kids!
We gave this to our kids this Christmas as a stocking stuffer, and I had no idea how much of a hit it would become. Every day, before breakfast, they run down to create the new airplane of the day! Of course, I have to help with the folding as some of the models are a bit difficult, but overall, we are very happy with this purchase.
One thing I need to mention however, I don't think we've managed to make ANY of our airplanes actually fly (and we've made 21 so far). Yes, you heard me correctly! We are VERY careful to follow the directions, which aren't hard, by the way. But even if none of them end up flying well, we still will love this calendar and most likely buy another one next year .. it's just so fun putting them together each day!
What a great gift that you can buy for one event (like Christmas) and have it last every day for the entire next year! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
