Will she ever be able to see herself as others do? Everyone knows that Anna Trent is a woman of worth. Everyone except Anna, that is. The oldest child in a farming family, Anna feels fortunate to have received an education. She loved school, loved to learn, loved the excitement of discovery. But now, as she graduates at age sixteen, it looks like all that is over. Then Austin Barker comes to town to fill the pastorate for the summer months. The young seminarian is captured by Anna's intense desire to learn. Through his books and correspondence, Anna's education continues to expand, and the sweet country girl grows into a lovely young woman. Still, Anna is shocked when Austin asks her to marry him. Why would he choose her? If only her feelings of inadequacy and self-consciousness would go away...

OKE'S MOST SPIRITUALLY EDIFYING BOOK EVER!
This is, in my opinion, the most spiritually edifying book I have ever read that is ficton. The main character is humble and submissive and a TRUE Christian. She is innocent and naive, yet mature. I wish I could be more like her. I feel like I KNOW her, too. A very good book for ALL AGES. You must read it. It will change your life by drawing you closer to God though the wonderful Christ-like example that this woman is.
My Favorite Book Ever!
I read this book when I was really down in the dumps. Life was going wrong. After I read it, I felt so awesome that I bought myself a copy! I want to be a missionary when I grow up, so this also helped me in that area! It is a great book! :)
Another great book by Janette Oke
This book is especially good because it shows the miraculous things that the Lord can do with a humble heart. For example there is is very good part about befriending someone that does everything to discourage friendship. I also very much enjoyed the author's attempt at showing the particular challenges of dealing with addiction. Although not dealt with in much depth, there is wisdom in what is portrayed.
