Similar to Axis and Allies Miniatures
If you have Axis and Allies Miniatures (the land version) don't expect something totally different with War at Sea. Although there are some minor differences (how to win, how to kill, how to survive, the way aircraft work), the game isn't radically different. It is, however, shorter and takes less dedication of time and mental energy to play. I got the Starter Set and one booster for Christmas but even then, with fourteen units, I could not play the full game. I still needed one or two more packs. Also, although Axis and Allies Miniatures can be played very easily without combining maps, it is far more necessary with War at Sea; you really need to do some table measuring with this one. Overall, I have to say I was a mite disappointed by this game. Still, now that I have it, it will be nice to play a much shorter version of Axis and Allies. If you don't already have Axis and Allies Miniatures, however, this might be a good choice over Axis and Allies Miniatures, especially if you are more into ships of war than tanks and men of war. You do, however, need the Starter Set. You can't play at all with just boosters. For Axis and Allies Miniatures people, however, I'd say just buy more boosters.
