Charles J. Brooks is currently the president of Marcraft International Corporation, located in Kennewick, Washington, and is in charge of research and development. He is the author of several books, including A+ Training Guide, A+ Concepts and Practices, and Microcomputer Systems—Theory and Service. Other titles produced by Mr. Brooks include: Speech Synthesis, Pneumatic Instrumentation, The Complete Introductory Computer Course, Radio-Controlled Car Project Manual, and IBM PC Peripheral Troubleshooting and Repair.

Welcome to the Network+ Practice Questions Exam Cram 2, Second Edition! The aim of this book is solely to provide you with practice questions, complete with answers and explanations that will help you learn, drill, and review for the Network+ certification exam.

Who Is this Book For?

If you have studied the Network+ exam's content and feel you are ready to put your knowledge to the test, but not sure you want to take the real exam yet, this book is for you! Maybe you have answered other practice questions or unsuccessfully taken the real exam, reviewed, and want to do more practice questions before going to take the real exam; this book is for you, too!

What Will You Find in this Book?

As mentioned before, this book is all about practice questions. This book is separated according to the topics you will find in the Network+ exam. Each chapter represents an exam topic, and in the chapter you will find three elements:

• Practice Questions—These are the numerous questions that will help you learn, drill, and review.

• Quick Check Answer Section—Once you have finished answering the questions, you can quickly grade your exam from this section. Only correct answers are given here. No explanations are offered yet.

• Answers and Explanations—This section offers you the correct answers as well as further explanation about the content posed in that question. Use this information to learn why an answer is correct and to reinforce the content in your mind for exam day.

You will also find a CramSheet at the beginning of this book specifically written for this exam. This is a very popular element that is also found in the corresponding Network+ Exam Cram 2, Second Edition study guide (ISBN 0-7897-3254-8). This item condenses all the necessary facts found in this exam into one easy-to-handle tear card. The CramSheet is something you can carry with you to the exam location and use as a last-second study aid. Be aware that you can't take it into the exam room, though!

Hints for Using this Book

As this book is a paper practice product, you might want to complete your questions on a separate piece of paper so you can reuse the exams over and over without having previous answers in your way. Also, a general rule of thumb across all practice question products is to make sure you are scoring well into the high 80 to 90 percent range in all topics before attempting the real exam. The higher percentages you score on practice question products, the better your chances for passing the real exam. Of course, we can't guarantee a passing score on the real exam, but we can offer you plenty of opportunities to practice and assess your knowledge levels before entering the real exam.

The book which has these reviews posted under it is 2 edition (June 7, 2005) and the most recent review is dated April 22, 2005. So, my question is... How can these reviews be about this book? Looks like Amazon just took the reviews from a previous edition, but how accurate is that? Not very accurate in my opinion. Also, if you look at the actual book for the N10-003 exam (Network+ Exam Cram 2 (Exam Cram N10-003) (2nd Edition) (Exam Cram 2) (Paperback)), most of those reviews are also for the previous edition. Bottom line, these reviews aren't any help if they are not for the current edition of the book they are posted under. Poor job Amazon! :-(

Lots of great material, great price
I buy my own study materials, so price is important. This is the best deal I've found anywhere. I've bought a couple other Network+ books and you shouldn't buy anything but this exam cram by Mike Harwood. Also, shop around for practice questions -- tough to find 500 for only $10-12, which is what you get with this package. I found some errors and emailed hte publisher, who emailed me right away -- I was VERY impressed with that; they are obviously working hard to please us -- and said all fixes are at www.examcram2.com. I notice they have all their errata posted almost immeidately. Ideally, there are no mistakes ever, and it's frustrating, but let's be realistic, they do happen, and I'm more than pleased with the customer support I got. And MeasureUp has already fixed hte CD, because a buddy bought this on my recommendation and we noticed his CD questions have already been fixed. While I was poking around the exam cram site, I also noticed they have Network+ test vouchers for only $150! That's at least $25 cheaper than everywhere else I shopped.

Mistake Cram2
What amazes me is how something like this could ever be published. The book is a puny sub-200 page question and answer study guide with a minimum of four mistakes per chapter. Problems with this book include: outdated content, repeat questions, poor explanations to many of the questions, obvious incorrect answers, and sections of detailed answers that have no related questions. How hard would it be to go through this book and polish it up? I would only recommend this book as a memorization guide. If you have a good handle on the concepts you will be able to find your way around all the errors. As far as learning anything from it is concerned, I'd be wary of because of all the simple mistakes.
