1) NUTRITION FOR YOU: A lively presentation on good nutrition, balanced meals and the effects of bad nutrition. The place of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water in the diet are covered. The importance of limiting fat, salt and sugar intake and eating fiber-rich food is discussed. Running time: 50 minutes.
2) SMOKING'S NOT FOR WINNERS: Focusing on reasons relevant to young people, the program demonstrates how smoking impairs athletic prowess, stains teeth and fingers, and creates bad breath. The respiratory system is presented along with the health hazards of smoking. Students learn that no form of tobacco is safe and how to resist peer pressure. Running time: 50 minutes.
3) ALCOHOL: IT'S SERIOUS BUSINESS: This straightforward program addresses the emotional and physical problems of underage drinking as well as attitudes toward alcohol. Refusal techniques and how to deal with peer pressure are shown. Services organizations such as Alanon, AA, Alateen, MADD and SADD are introduced. Running Time: 20 minutes.
