Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Fields, the well-known entrepreneur, follows up her highly succesful Mrs. Fields Cookie Book with another devoted entirely to chocolate. But it will come as no surprise that the new book opens with an extensive chapter about cookies. Fans will appreciate these. Her "Mother Lode Brownies," for instance, are made up of a brownie layer, baked, spread with a caramel coating and topped with nuts, semisweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips. It's difficult to imagine anything more excessive, although the author makes a good attempt to do just that with double-fudge chip cake, chocolate turtle pie, and "Triple Chocolate Suicide." This book is not for the faint of heart or for those looking to lose weight. But if you crave chocolate and feel somehow neglected or forbidden, Fields will offer manna without restriction. Good reading for chocolate lovers4
Debbi Fields is a self-proclaimed chocolate lover, and that fact is obvious in this mouthwatering collection of recipes. She divides the book into sections on cakes, cookies, candies, etc., but my favorite is her "Showstoppers" section--which I think is far and away the best part of the book. She has a flourless chocolate cake recipe I've made for several years now that is simple and delicious and always receives rave reviews whenever I serve it. I also love her fudgy walnut cake and her peanut butter chocolate cheesecake. Chocolate heaven! Each recipe is accompanied by a color photo of the dessert, and there are also photos sprinkled throughout showing a particular process involved in concocting the dessert. These are great, but occasionally the recipes themselves fall short. At times the instructions are unclear or the written order of assembly doesn't match the order in which the steps should be done. I would recommend the baker read the recipe through carefully once or twice before starting, just to make sure you know whether a particular step is going to take longer than expected (e.g., chilling a ganache for several hours). The other problem I have with this book is that it doesn't seem to be as innovative as one might expect from Mrs. Fields. I also have the Mrs. Fields Cookie Book, which I've come to consider a staple among my cookie-baking cookbooks. It has terrific recipes that are relatively simple, taste great, and contain ingredients that almost anyone will love. However, the I Love Chocolate! book has more recipes that seem unnecessarily complicated or contain more unusual ingredients that aren't as readily available or as popular among sweets-eaters. Having said that, I still would recommend this book to anyone who loves chocolate. It's worth the price for the flourless chocolate cake alone.

Excellent recipes from this thin but big hardcover!!5
Cookies, cakes, sauces, shakes, and more! "Rum-soaked Chocolate Malibu cake" and "Triple Layer Chocolate Peanut Butter cheesecake" and "White Chocolate Pecan Sheets" and
"Mocha Souffle" and "Chocolate Caramel Custard". The lists of yummies go on and on. About 120 pages of recipes that are
NOT pushing someone's product. The cookbook lies flat, open to where you can see big pictures of the ultimate outcomes. Delicious! "Chocolate Peanut Flouritines."--one of our favorities.
I love this book! Good-size print! Easy to follow instructions (and I'm one who needs it easy-to-follow) You see the needed ingredients on the side, (no surprises later on in instructions) everything listed with what stage they go with (in other words, are they part of the crust, syrup, topping, or whatever) I wish more cookbook authors would take cue, make it simple to follow, feature with solid book, and don't try to slyly push products I don't want. I want to bake or cook and enjoy the
outcome.

The recipes in this book are great !!5
I bought this book for myself and tried several recipes and took them to parties and to work. Everyone who tried them loved them!!! I have since bought 3 more copies as gifts for family members since they have loved the things that I have made so far from the book.
