Not bad, just not good
I did the 40 day program with my pastor and two others. While we found nothing really wrong with this book, we found little to recommend.

As other reviewers have said there are several "problems". The use of several versions of the bible certainly seems to be an attempt to make everything say just what the author wants it to say. The use of "the bible says" or "the scriptures say" without showing where it is actually written is very disturbing. And the "hawking" of Warren's other books is just plain materialistic.

In short, if a person wants to be told what to do and how to think then this book is for them but if they want a book to help them understand Life and how to use their own brain to "live right", then this is not the book.

I gave this to a friend after I read the book- it is wonderful and very helpful to both of us. Everyone needs to read this book!

Excellent book
In this book rick Warren helps new christians and those who need to focus their purpose in life. With basic illustrations and an easy to read message Warren takes a new step to help people become more effective christians. Our life completly has to praise God; this means we have to do it with our actions, words and way of think.. It has a great message. The book can be read in 40 days (what is suggested) or less. A good buy!
