Product Description

Steve Hanks is first and foremost a figure painter whose watercolor compositions are infused with emotion and a kind of poetry formed by light and shadow. Realistic figure painting in watercolor is technically demanding and Hanks is the premier artist working in this field today. His astonishing realism comes from his skillful control of washes, edges, and layers and from his knowledge of the properties of water and pigment.

Hanks paints what he refers to as "moments of introspective solitude" with the deepest respect for the privacy of the individual lost in reflection. The paintings in this ample volume represent the most extensive collection of the artist's work in more than ten years, and his subjects include infants, children and families, beautiful women, and nudes. Every painting holds a mystery, and each is also a personal story about the artist as he discovers the expression of his own emotional unfolding through his art.

Stunning! Worth every penny!5
I actually bought this book at [...]for only 24 dollars, which is a great price. That being said, I would have paid double and thought it was worth every penny. The book is large and chock full of truly stunning watercolor paintings by Steve Hanks. I think he is one of the best watercolorists in the country today. The book is mainly paintings with notes by Hanks and a biographical essay in the end. There is also a section that shows Hanks' step by step progress through several paintings which is particularly interesting to an artist. Highly recommended for jealous study by another artist or pure visual enjoyment by anyone.

Beautiful and Moving5
I have always been a big fan of the work of Steve Hanks. I was excited to see that he was coming out with a new book and pre-ordered it. The book is beautiful and beyond my expectations. It is a large book filled with beautiful reproductions of Steve's work; many paintings that I hadn't seen before. The book shares the inspiration and motivation behind the works and the story of how the artist used his art to help with his own healing.
You will not be disappointed. This book will become a treasured keepsake.

Moving On5
"Moving On" is a beautiful book of Steve Hanks paintings. What makes it realy special is the artists explanation of his works. His insight helps you understand his motives and his intentions when he created each piece and shows you things that you may have missed on first glance. I love it!
