Average customer review:Product Description
A diffiuclt book to categorize, Pierre-Paul Prud'hon emerges in this book as a savvy negotiator of contemporary artisitic expextations. From innovative public print-making ventures to his creation of an alternate, feminine persona through his collaboration with Constance Mayer. Prud'hon questioned and redefined the role of the artist in a changing social milieu. Includes more than 150 drawings by the artist , some little known or previously unpublished.

Customer Reviews
Highly Disappointing
The quantity of drawings is excellent, although some are surprisingly small. The bigger disappointment is the lack of color in the book. Prud'hon's academy drawings look lackluster on the page without the familiar blue tint of the paper. While this may be a small quibble for some, it takes a great deal away from getting the true experience of his work. The academy reproductions appear to lack detail I've seen in other books. Whether this is due to the lack of color or poor scanning I'm not sure. But the very fine detail of his chalk work is lost here.
The text is informative and well written. But it's the work you're buying the book for, and that's not nearly reproduced as well as it should have been. Overall, quite disappointing.
