Product Description

With a fresh cast of animal characters — and what they eat — the creative team of Marthe Jocelyn and Tom Slaughter has produced another work in their award-winning series for very young book and art lovers.

Marthe Jocelyn’s simple concept of matching creatures — familiar and unusual — with their favorite foods is brought to life by the sparkling colors and masterfully cut paper shapes of Tom Slaughter’s illustrations; a first taste of modern art. And the surprise final picture makes a satisfying dessert.

Previous titles have received acclaim from Japan to Denmark, from France to Mexico. Enhancing a child’s visual and verbal vocabulary, Eats makes a joyful addition to the collection.

Customer Reviews

Cute concept, great graphics3
This book has simple but entertaining illustrations - great for kids to age 2. My toddler likes picking out the words he knows, like apple and monkey, but I think an older child would be bored by the simplistic pictures and lack of words.

Great picture book for teaching concept of 'who eats what'.5
This is a beautiful, full-color picture book that teaches association - in this case, the concept of 'what animal eats which food'. The paper cut illustrations are bold with simple text to convey the association, e.g. worm - apple, giraffe- leaves. This is not just great for babies and toddlers in teaching basic concepts, but also for younger preschoolers who can be asked to identify the letters forming the words, and spelling them out. A simple, yet beautiful picture book which can also be great for art appreciation.
