Customer Reviews

the best book ever about pre-war hillbilly music5
If you've ever wondered what it was like trying to become a country music star in the days before world war II, this is the book to read. Alton weaves quite a tale...on the road with Roy Acuff, Deford Bailey & a whole host of other performers from the early days of recorded hill country music. According to Alton, the Grand Ole Opry weren't so grand. I only wish Mr. Delmore lived long enough to give us a volume 2
