Amazon Quarterly was the first national literary magazine with a lesbian perspective, begun back in 1972. The Lesbian Reader collects short stories, essays, and poetry from Amazon Quarterly's three-year lifespan. Quaint ancient history (or herstory) but still relevant.

Customer Reviews
Terrific collection of stories, essays and poems
I enjoyed this collection very much, not only for a glimpse of what was important in writing in 1975 but the quality of the writing.
I bought this book because it is spotlighted in the introduction of the anthology `The Poetry of Sex' edited by Tee A. Corinne.
My copy is an 8th printing from 1989 (first printing 1975). The subtitle "An Amazon Quarterly Anthology" led me to search the internet for information on Amazon Quarterly but I wasn't able to locate any information on the 1970's publication.
Special mention in the acknowledgements - "We thank June Arnold for her contribution which enabled us to pay the authors for their work."
