On this six-CD set, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer shows you how to restore balance in your life by offering nine principles for realigning your thoughts so that they correspond to your highest desires.
Imagine a balance scale with one end weighted down to the ground, and the other end—featuring the objects of your desires—sticking up precariously in the air. This scale is a measurement of your thoughts. To restore the same balance that characterizes everything in our universe, you have to take up the weighty thoughts so that they match up to your desires. In this live lecture, Wayne emphasizes that we’re a vital component of this creative process and have within ourselves the wherewithal to create all that we want if we recognize and revise out-of-balance thoughts.

Not Dr. Dyer's Best
I'm a big fan of Wayne Dyer's work and have been reading his books and listening to his tapes & CD's since the 1970s. He has a great soothing speaking voice which is well suited for recordings. I was excited when this new series of CD's was offered, but unfortunately, I don't think it's as good as his previous work. If you've never heard him speak you might find the CD's more enjoyable and informative than I did, but there are better examples of his work available.
The CD's were recorded at a live session and the recording quality is fine, but much of his talk appears "off the cuff"- odds & ends of stories and examples he has used in other programs. He had recently started taking yoga and he refers again and again to this. I understand he's excited about what he's learning, but after awhile it gets old. In general, much of the set is self-referential; he tells us about his life and uses himself as the prime example for his theories. Usually I really enjoy his humor; this time he repeats his jokes which ultimately lose their punch.
He also makes several points about addiction using examples from James Frey's book "A Million Little Pieces" citing the author's experience of addiction and what cured him. Unfortunately, in the time since this recording was made, the book was -rather infamously on Oprah- found to be a piece of fiction. This, of course, makes it a poor choice for a resource. While this is not Dr. Dyer's fault, it does greatly weaken the arguments he makes.
If you already own a lot of Wayne Dyer's work, you can probably skip this one- take a look at the book if you want to know the habits he recommends for balance. The book's content is much less rambling than the CD-series. If you don't own much of his work, I recommend you purchase (in CD or book form) "The Power of Intention" or "You'll See It When You Believe It" or "Real Magic"-- all of these have better content and more valuable advice. I highly recommend and would give 5 stars to most of Dr. Dyer's teachings; just not this set.
Awakening
This CD set found ME. I find it amazing, insightful and inspiring. I don't have anything to compare it with, but I found it at a bookstore for $4.95! Why, I have no idea....so I bought it and it's changing my life.
The Essence of Being in Balance
I am on CD 3 of the 6 and am thinking that I am so grateful to have added this to my Dr Dyer collection. It is one that I will listen to again and again. Wonderful!
