Incredibly erotic and wildly romantic - with lots of kiny sex!
This story has all the elements I look for in romantic-erotic fiction: The characters are complex, intelligent and absorbing, the writing vivid and sensual, the unfolding storyline compelling. Though it is as kinky and sexy as anyone could possibly wish, the context in which these wild sexual adventures occur is romantic, loving and tender. Unusually provocative and informative for this genre, Julian Masters takes the reader on a journey into the darker side of human sexuality - revealing the courage it takes to explore our deepest desires.

I could not help comparing this story to the S&M classic "Story of O", though they are very different books. Where Pauline Reage's O is manipulated by aloof, domineering men who are essentially afraid to love her; in Kate, Julian Masters gives us a submissive heroine we can respect and admire. Kate makes informed choices and she surrenders her body, heart and mind from a place of trust and mutual understanding.

Every scene, no matter how shocking, has a purpose, as James guides Kate through successive submissive experiences that only ever enhance her self-esteem. Kate is trained to pleasure as she gradually loses her inhibitions and learns to trust James ever more deeply - surprisingly we realise that the pleasure James trains her to surrender to is her own!

Anyone considering exploring their submissive desires should read this book, but even more I recommend it wholeheartedly to those who would be dominant! In James we at last have a dominant character who combines authority and virility with sensitivity and passion - a man who demands obedience but who is at the same time a generous and tender lover.

A very sensual, pleasurable and erotic romance!

Kate fatisizes about dominance and submission so her curiosity leads her to James via a chat room on the internet.James is an authority on the subject and since he is also intrigued by both Kate's looks and obvious enthusiasm, a meeting is scheduled.

Kate passes this initiation test and she in turn is overwhelmed by James' knowledge and confidence. Having thus ascertained that he is sane and trustworthy, they embark on this journey of sexual pursuit with the intent of 'educating' Kate. James hires a farmhouse for a week, as isolation is imperative, where they immerse themselves in this training programmme. He proceeds by perpetually keeping his subject in suspense and sexual arousal putting her through more and more demanding tasks which are intended to emancipate the heroine and allow her to explore her darkest and most secret secxual fantasies.

James is the veteran trainer (reminiscent in many ways of a circus trainer) using the carrot and whip technique to achieve the desired outcome. Like a circus magician he also has in his possession a case which contains anything and everything imaginable from bonds, dildos, chains and other paraphernalia, which he whips out at the appropriate time as required. The rabbit in this case is the heroine who partakes in this enterprise with great relish.

I found the book slightly amusing as this slave\master relationship is not something I can take seriously. However, I also found it very erotic as well as informative as James who is a stickler for enlightment. never fails to explain the psychological and social implications of this type of sexual instruction. I am certain that his theories are equally debatable, but whatever turns people on is fine. Admittedly, he is tender and considerate as the heroine can back out at any time she feels threatened. This was an aspect of the book which I appreciated as I did not find the book distasteful, though some scenes were extreme, in my view.

If you enjoy this genre, this book is recommended as everything is done by mutual consent, though James' lecturing and slightly patronizing tone may at times be annoying.

Vignettes in Training
This was an interesting story (yes an actual story) about how a woman starts out with simple acts of trust and submission with literally someone she doesn't really even know and then as the relationship and trust progress she gives herself over more and more to submission.

Their first date is all in public and she's not really sure what she's getting herself into, but that's also part of the eroticism of being in public; playing with yourself in public, coming but not letting anyone know, etc. Going to an enclosed arbor outdoors and having sex. Private, but not. The weekend in the farmhouse is the big finale and all sorts of games ensue.

This isn't just a wam-bam sex on every page book for the sake of sex. There is some thought put into and enjoy.
