About the Author
After attending Lancaster Girls' Grammar School, Barara trained as a techer at Wentworth Castle Training College, near Barnsley, in Yorkshire, She completed her education at a later date, at Liverpool University, England, and the University of British Columbia, Canada. In 1975 Barbara received her B.Ed degree in History and Special Education from U.B.C.
In 1966 Barbara immigrated to Canada. After accepting a teaching position in Powell River in 1968, Barbara met, and later married Stuart Lambert. A daughter, Ann, was born in 1970.
Barbara Lambert's teaching career covers 35 years in Lancashire, UK, Germany, and British Columbia, Canada. She retired in 1997 for the Powell River School District.
In 1998 Barbara published her first book on local history: In Paradise: West Coast Short Stories 1890-1960.
In Dec 2000 Barbara published her second book: Chalkdust & Outhouses West Coast Schools 1893-1950.
In 2001 Stuart Lambert died at age 87. Barbara and Stuart were partners and friends for 32 years, living on the family farm in Paradise Valley, Powell River.
Today Barbara continues to enjoy a rural lifestyle in Powell River with her big dog Dakota, and her cat Princess.
