Product Description

The bars of West Hollywood, California, have always played host to a fair share of life-sucking monsters, but until now that's been mostly metaphoric. After three prime cuts of gay male beef turn up filleted and drained of blood, Sheriff Clive Anderson, Coroner Becky O'Brien and City Manager Pamela Burman are forced to the realization that something possibly not human has taken up residence in Boys' Town- something with more than the usual taste for male flesh. Fortunately, Becky's college pal Chris Driscoll is something of an expert on serial killers, but when she calls him in for a consult, she is startled to find that he hasn't aged a day in 10 years. When she accidentally stumbles over him napping in his coffin, he lets her in on his little secret: "Yep, I'm a vampire!"

He also informs her that the serial killer is a rogue vampire and that she and Sheriff Anderson are going to need to think about some unorthodox crime-fighting techniques. Exciting and very, very funny, Bite Club is a rollicking black comedy in which the crime-fighting community and the undead community create an uneasy alliance to stop a monster!

Hal Bodner is a businessperson living in West Hollywood, California. This is his first novel.

Bite Club was a moderately fun book that resorted to the use of tired sterotypes to achieve humor. The story involves a gay vampire, his mostly human lover, and their eccentric friends on a mad chase around West Hollywood in search of a rogue vampire. Rather than fully developing his characters, Bodner falls back on a series of cliches to describe them (gay men wearing leather and dressing in drag, overweight people continuously eating at any given moment). Curiously, the most interesting parts of the novel come when the story shifts to a secondary female vampire character across the country helping in the hunt for the rogue vampire. Here the humor is more subtle and feels less forced. Her interactions with other supernatural creatures give the reader much more insight into the world the author attempts to create. This section sadly never comes to any full conclusion however and ends abruptly.

Very funny! highly enjoyable!4
One of the best genre books on the market today feature homoeroticism. This book had some pretty funny highlights and sexy characters. I thought the comedy was refreshing, another excellent book for sexy supernatural homoeroticism is D.N. Simmons's Desires Unleashed, it's a bit darker and a more erotic and provocative supernatural novel. Poppy Z. Brite is also good if you enjoyed this novel as I have.

A pretty funny slap-stick vampire comedy.4
I thought this story was pretty funny. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did, since I'm used to reading vampire novels with a more serious tone and sexier characters such as D.N. Simmons or Laurell K Hamilton, but Hal Brodner's novel was pretty good for the first time. So it's a fun read if you have time to spare on a weekend afternoon.
