Amazon.com Review
If you're a "just the facts, ma'am" kind of person, Windows NT Registry will call to you like the siren on the rocks. Yet another in the New Riders networking series, this book delivers the goods on fine-tuning your network operations via the Windows NT Registry, considered the nerve center of the operating system. Author Sandra Osborne, longtime programmer and Windows expert, presents the material in a straightforward, tough-to-argue-with style that's geared exclusively to the networking professional.
Divided into three sections, Windows NT Registry tackles hardware issues, workstation components, and network client issues. Osborne cuts right to the chase in each chapter, briefly explaining the task at hand and then directing you to the precise location in the Registry from which you can complete it. In addition, you get loads of useful orientation screenshots, tables that consolidate information on various settings, sample commands, and an appendix that contains a complete listing of the Windows NT Registry keys. The liberally splattered quasi footnotes that contain tips, troubleshooting advice, warnings, and author notes detailing Osborne's personal experience with various components of the Registry are bonuses. A fantastic resource, this is an indispensable guide for those whose occupation requires them to regularly wrestle with NT. --Sarah L. Roberts-Witt

Finally, the book I've been waiting for!
I've reviewed almost every book on the Windows Registry and this is finally the book I've been looking for.
The other books cover how to use RegEdit and RegEdt32 well, but they fail to give any kind of comprehensive list of registry settings. This book does. It's divided into chapters where each one covers a specific topic and all of the registry settings which apply. Very well organized.
You owe it to yourself to add this book to your collection.
GREAT Registry book for NT Admins!
Of all of the books that claim to demystify the registry, *this* book lives up to the task. It is apparently obvious that Ms. Osborne has taken the cryptic keys within the registry hives and figured out what they do (no small task at all) and how they interoperate (even more amazing).
A must read if you want to figure out what is happening "beneath the covers" on the NT platform. Buy it NOW!!
GREAT BOOK
This book has more unknown registry settings than any other Registry Book. The first discovery of Flag settings are discussed and are invaluable when trying to program the Windows Interface or programatically controlling the control panel applets. It even shows how to create your own policies using settings in the Policy chapter. GREAT BOOK !!!
