Weird-a-rific
Was pleasently suprised when reading these classic tales of weirdness. The author is obviously a huge fan of these old pulps and gives brief over-views of the particular issue and comments regarding the stories in the issues. I didnt really understand the 2nd story at all. But the other stories were top notch. With old pulps slowly deteriorating over time, it's nice to see some of these classic tales perserved. Good weird stuff.
Not authentic "Weird Tales"!
I was very disappointed. My copy is certainly titled, "Best Of Weird Tales" edited by John Betancourt but the stories are all by modern authors such as Brian Lumley, Ramsey Campbell and Thomas Ligootti. NOT AUTHENTIC Weird Tales. If you like modern horror fiction fine, but if you want some real Lovecraft era fiction from the original Weird Tales magazine, keep looking. (Like I am going to go do now.) I wouldn't be mad but the description of the book is quite other than it really is.
Boooorrrrriiiiinnnngggg
i tried to read about ten of the stories in this book and i barely got through one. The stories are badly dated. I'm going to use it to stabilize my shaky couch.
