This exquisite look at Frank Lloyd Wright's windows, along with a representation of his limited production of light fixtures, is the first comprehensive study on the subject. Thomas A. Heinz features not only Wright's iridescent stained glass but a sweeping range of his lightscreens, Wright's term for his designs that capture the essence of both light and shadow. The screens were not intended to obscure the view out the window but to modify and focus it through framing. It was Wright's abstraction of patterns and geometry from nature--plants and flowers--that resulted in the most imaginative stained-glass designs that had ever been seen up to his time. But while he is best known for his stained glass set in metal frames, he also created screens in cut wood, concrete, and even terra-cotta. In fact, Wright did not use the glass-and-metal system after 1924, though he continued to design lightscreens. About the Author
Thomas A. Heinz, AIA, of Evanston, Illinois, has been involved with the restoration of more than forty Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and is the author of twenty books on Wright. He is coauthor with Makinson and principal photographer for two books on Greene and Greene.

Decent pictures of many FLLW glass designs
This book has a fairly decent amount of photos of FLLW's glass designs, and the quality of the photos is decent also. I haven't read much of the book since I'm mainly interested in the photographs of his windows. There's not a lot of quality books out there for his stained glass (unless you want to spend $... on the Glass Art book), so this is a worthwhile introductory purchase.

Nice Book - But NOT a pattern book
I actually DID read this lovely book accentuated by wonderful pictures....just be aware that it is NOT a book of stained glass patterns although the pictures will surely provide ample ideas for you to adapt. It'll be difficult NOT to get excited about doing some 'lightscreen' projects around your home or office where you DO want want to see outside, unobstructed light and scenery with either full panels or partial panels. Am I glad I bought this book?...You bet!
