Gr. 1-2. Excerpts from several silly stories will have new readers giggling as they peruse this Reading Rainbow Readers volume. In "Pizza Time" from James Marshall's Fox on the Job (1998), a fox delivering a pizza and a young lady fox carrying her pet mice to the vet collide and accidentally exchange packages. In an excerpt from Poppleton Forever (1998) by Cynthia Rylant, Poppleton the pig has some problems when he asks friends over to help him wallpaper. Other entries include pieces by Dav Pilkey and Arnold Lobel, among others. Some of the vignettes seem very truncated, but most succeed, and it's nice to find the work (even the short versions) of so many talented writers and illustrators in one place. Ilene Cooper

Silly Stories to Tickle Your Funny Bone
My 5 year old was thrilled to find a book he could read ( with some help) that had several stories from all of our favorite authors! James Marshall, Dav Pilkey and six others!
