Absolutely amazing!!! I love this manga!5
Definite 5-star / highest rating for this one! It's a hilarious fantasy story, with some explicit delicious yaoi (M/M) action. A previous reviewer noted that it was "confusing", but it definitely wasn't so to me (and I know next to nothing about the god/demon pantheon (Assyrian?) described in the manga. It may be a bit more complicated than an average simple "high-school-boy-love" story that dominates the US yaoi market now (and where we all tend to know what happens even before we start reading the book...), but if you read "Yokai's Hunger" with enough attention / concentration, your effort will surely pay off, as this manga has both an excellent entertaining plot, great art and steamy sex scenes.

"Yokai's Hunger" is an amusing, relaxing story about a "yokai", or demon (Koma, or "Dog of Wrath") and a human (a 18-19-year old school graduate / a waiter) in love, with the bunch of other demons (Koma's brothers) and a minor god mixed in as well. The demon Koma is really cute in his non-human "demon-dog" form, especially when he's not fighting some other demons but quietly cuddling with his master-human instead: Koma's long wolf-like ears are very cute! His lion-like demon brother also appeared amusingly pretty and cat-like a few times :). Koma's appearance in his human form is that of a middle-age man: Bohra-sensei is famous for her drawings of middle-age but still very cute ukes, and this story is no exception.

I'm a big fan of Naono Bohra's art, which is surely quite original, and may be not for everyone: her boys and men look real / human and mannish (without being too "über"-masculine), and there are no "big-eyed" pretty ukes in most of her stories. But if you're an open-minded yaoi reader who can appreciate the originality - do try her work, as I strongly believe that Naono Bohra is currently one of the best and most original yaoi manga-kas out there. I'm very happy to see one of her works translated in English at last, and thankful to "Kitty Media" for that. However, I do think that the quality of this edition and translation could have been much better: no color insert (which is there, in the Japanese edition, of course), a number of awkward translation slips, and the quality of the paper is so-so: some sort of yellow-ish thin paper, which doesn't do justice to the beautiful Bohra-sensei's work. ("Kitty Media" did a much better job with "Crimson Spell", I must admit). Nonetheless, it didn't prevent me from enjoying this manga a lot, so I wholeheartedly recommend it to all "not-so-softcore" and fantasy yaoi fans!

Pretty good5
I actually read the scannalation version of this a while back. And safe to say that I love the scanned version better. But! I love the fact that I can actually hold the manga in my hands and read it. I tend to ignore their actual names and go by what they call them selves now. The only thing is, I prefer Koma referring to Norito as "Master". It makes it so much hotter ^^

A solid read4
Naono Bohra is definitely one of my favourite yaoi authors, so it's great to finally see one of her mangas licensed in English. If you haven't come across her work before, I really can't recommend it enough. Her characters and storylines are always really well developed. I always feel completely drawn in by her work and there is just something very sweet and endearing about her stories. Her artwork is quite unconventional but I feel that it definitely has its own charm once you get used to it- so please don't let it put you off!

The story in Yokai's Hunger basically revolves around Norito and Koma, who are connected by a promise made between them in Norito's past life. Norito, who has reincarnated, is now a high school student, while Koma is a middle aged man. This is basically a fantasy story, since it involves Koma and his brothers who are magical beings cast out by the gods. That being said, even though the plot involves fight scenes/ magical beasts etc, the overall tone is very light-hearted and this really is a fun, entertaining read. In terms of explicitness, this is definitely a hot read, with scenes that are quite explicit.

Overall, I can't recommend this manga enough. Whether you're already a Naono Bohra fan or not, if you're looking for a solid, entertaining read, pick this up!
