Product Description

The world met Harry, Jason and Sammy in Between Friends, Sean Michael's popular novel about a pair of couples and the troubles they face. When Harry Met Jason goes back in time to when cop Harry met just-graduated Jason, who's living with his college roommate Sammy, and worrying about trying to find a job. When a frat party goes bad, Jason ends up more than just drunk, but Harry shows up just in time, policing the party and taking Jason home. That's the start of something neither one of them can deny, a relationship that Harry wants to take slow, while Jason would like to go in fast forward. The party starts something for Jason's best friend Sammy, too, something not so great. He's been hurt, and is being stalked to boot, which makes Jason hesitant to leave Sammy alone to pursue Harry. As Harry and Jason become closer and closer, Sammy's stalkers get more and more violent, until finally something has to break. Can Harry and Jason keep Sammy safe and fall in love all at the same time? Read this wonderful love story today and find out!

Review

Tory Temple, author of Tabula Rasa and Heat, writes:

Sean Michael knows how to deliver a great prequel. In this installment to the Between Friends story, we come to learn how Jason and Harry meet.

It-s college graduation day and Jason wants to celebrate it in style. That includes a party, alcohol, and his best friend Sam, and Jason-s got all three. When someone decides to drug the party-s beer, however, Jason and Sam both get more than they bargained for. That-s where Harry comes in, just a cop assigned to break up the party, but Jason thinks Harry-s the hottest thing that Jason-s ever seen in a uniform.

Harry is immediately attracted to Jason as well, but soon comes to discover that Jason is part of a package, and that package includes Sam. The two have been best friends for years -- friends with benefits, Harry learns -- and Jason isn-t about to give that friendship up. But when Sammy is threatened by people who want to hurt him, Harry starts to feel just as protective of Sam as Jason does.

This introduction to Jason-s and Harry-s story is a sweet, compelling tale of how the lovers meet. Interwoven throughout the entire book are glimpses of just how strong the friendship bond can be and how important it is to everyone involved. Sam-s dangerous situation and Jason-s desperation to help him are second only to Harry-s concern for the both of them. Sean Michael kept me wondering up until the last chapter if Harry and Jason would be able to forge a relationship and help Sam at the same time.

Once again, Sean has delivered a novel with emotion and heart. The sex is as hot as ever, but it also serves to drive home the whole point of the story: love and friendship are ties that bind. Kudos to Sean for another enjoyable read.

A prequel that lives up!5
LouisaClark has given a great review on this latest from Sean.

I too love "Between Friends" and of course look forward to more on Sammy and Peter, Jason and Harry. My favorite character is Sammy and I was hoping for Sammy's story first. Still this one on how Harry met Jason is enjoyable and a sexy read. The story takes place years ago when Jason and Sammy are just stepping out into the world trying to build their careers. We get to know how close they are. They are best friends and love each other deeply but just not in love with each other as they have different needs. Sammy is into the extreme side of BDSM. Jason is a sweet man looking for the right man and he finds him in Harry, a young cop then but such a hunk. Harry is such a warm and open character then, before the terrible incident changed him and affected all 4 of them in "Between Friends". Sammy does not take a back seat in this story as his sad plight and torture in the hands of his tormentors entwined with Jason's and Harry's love story. And now to wait most patiently for Sammy's and Peter's story which I hope Sean will deliver SOON!

The Between Friends series is on its way to my favorites list4

Rating: 8/10

PROS:
- The sex--all of it--is sweet and heartfelt and an expression of love. It's very much vanilla, but I loved it, especially the fact that the characters wait for so long and don't jump right into bed together. There is a lot of sex, but not as much as in some other Michael books.
- Harry is one of my favorite characters I've encountered in any romance. He's strong and protective yet considerate and gentle. He treats Jason like a prince, but what I loved even more than that was his concern over Jason's best friend, Sammy.
- The friendship between Jason and Sammy is priceless. I haven't encountered many queeny guys in the m/m romances I've read, and Michael has two of them in these books and manages to avoid clichés and stereotypes with them both. They're both extremely sweet and likeable, like many of the queeny guys I've known and am friends with.

CONS:
- Same editing issues as Between Friends that make it difficult at times to figure out who's speaking. This book contains quite a few instances in which the speaker of a quote isn't identified and the descriptions around it make it difficult to tell which character said it.
- Climactic "face down the bad guys" scene seemed a bit rushed, but it's probably truer to life than a more dramatic drawn-out scene would have been.
- Some awful things happen to Sammy, and the ways they affect him are described very well. As a result, those parts are hard to read. This isn't really a con, though, I guess, because these things just make all three of the books richer. And knowing what's in store for Sammy (which I had already read about in Between Friends) made it all bearable.

Overall comments: If you like passionate romance, this is a great read. You don't need to have read Between Friends to enjoy this book, but knowing what happens in Jase and Harry's future enhanced my enjoyment of this book considerably. And vice versa: after reading this and Sammy's Place, which I'm about halfway through, I'm going to have to read Between Friends again, because I think I'll love it even more.

Not Enjoyable for Me2
Sean Michael's book "Between Friends: When Harry Met Jason" was not enjoyable for me. I would have liked more plot and less sex. I have no problem reading books with sex in them but it became so predictable that I felt like I was watching a low budget male porno movie. It felt like the sex scenes were the same thing over and over but in different locations. I did laugh about it though. That is why I gave it 2 stars. Sorry. I don't like giving bad reviews but I hope Mr. Michael can be inspired to be a little more creative.
