Dakota is a shapeshifer and he thinks he is the only one in the world. When he meets Jax he realizes he is not alone and the two become involved, Now he is convinced that there are even others and they set out to find them and bring them altogether to the Shifting Sands Ranch where they can all be themselves; who they really are. Cities do not seem to be the places for them but they mist also deal with the problem that all of the shifters may not want to be with them. There is also the possibility that there are predators who think that they hold first place on the food chain and there may also be others that want to take the ranch away from them. Will Jax and Dakota be able to save themselves and the world from predators or have they taken on too much? "Shifting Sands" is an exciting and well written book and it is even convincing that there can be shifters among us.
Everything goes well for Jax and Dakota until they meet ultimate predator who brings in new issues and they discover that his favorite meal is humans.
There is a lot of fun here and Kelly is very witty. Granted this is science fiction but it is also great fun--and there is a bonus; there are two extra stories in the volume. For an interesting afternoon and fun read, pick up a copy.

Shifting Sands: In Their Own Skin The main characters are Dakota and Jax, both are shifters and vacationing at the ski resort to meet hot and sexy guys, both are hiding the fact that they are shifters. When the two get busy doing the bedroom tangle, it's no holes barred and no turning back to the single life, they are mated. Life on the ranch is grand until they hear about the ultimate predator, who gives a whole new meaning to dining out and tasty snacks, humans being his favorite tidbits. Dakota and Jax and crew have their paws full when predators come chomping at their door. This is the most hilarious story I have read in a very long time, Kiernan Kelly has a wicked sense of humor that is not to be missed.
