Simon is not sure he'll ever find the right sub for him. His last relationship ended badly, but he's determined not to let it rule his life, so he heads for the Hammer, his favorite members only club. A man never knows what will come his way at the Hammer, and at least his friends there know and love him. Big, buff cowboy Jeremy just got a job as a bouncer at the Hammer, and he thinks Simon is the hottest thing he's seen in a long time. He'd never found a Dom who suits him, but Simon might just be the thing to cure his bedroom blues. Their relationship heats up fast, but just as things seem to be as good as they can get, tragedy strikes. All of their friends from the Hammer gather to support Jeremy and Simon, but all of the support in the world might not be enough to make Jeremy let Simon in again. Can Simon hold it together long enough to convince Jeremy they're worth the effort, no matter what?

Jeremy and Simon
Amos Lassen
Sean Michael seems to be one of the most prolific authors writing gay books today and it has taken me a while to get around to finally reading him. He has a knack for writing about and developing interesting characters. In "Forged", we meet Simon who is searching for the right submissive partner but he wants someone who will not take control of his own live. He decides to go to The Hammer, his favorite all men's club where he can at least see his friends. There is a new bouncer, Jeremy, a good looking cowboy working there and he thinks that Simon is uber-hot. Jeremy's problem is the opposite of Simon's in that he is searching for a dominant partner and he thinks that Simon may be just the right guy. The two hit it off well and things progress quickly but just as things seem fine, something happens and it takes everything the two can do to deal with and overcome it. Their feelings for each other are strong but they are really put to the test. We have a detective story that moves fast, perhaps a bit too fast but is an interesting read.

After coming off of a bad relationship with a sub that didn't take the lifestyle seriously Simon was feeling like he would never find the person to meet his needs, until he met the new bouncer at the Hammer, an exclusive members-only club. Jeremy, the big beautiful cowboy with the rock hard body was not the type one would see as submissive, and Simon could not believe his luck when he turned out to not only be submissive but was also interested in him.
Jeremy has always been comfortable with who he is and what he wanted out of life. When he met Simon he knew he wanted more than just one night. Jeremy needed a Dom that wasn't afraid to push his limits, and with Simon he found just what he was looking for in a Dom and in a relationship.
Just when Simon and Jeremy see a happily ever after in their future they are smacked with misfortune that will take everything within them to overcome and survive.
Forged, the follow up book in Sean Michael's Hammer series carry the same caliber of interesting characters as the prequel Bent, but I didn't find the overall story as engrossing as Bent. The relationship in Bent moved me from the start, but I found it took a while for me to warm up to Jeremy and Simon as a couple. They were not the typical D/s couple; at times I wasn't sure who the dominant one in the relationship was. When the strength of their relationship and feelings for each other were tested later in the story I was more drawn to them as a couple, but then I felt the story rushed to get to a conclusion. I was also thrown by the introduction of Ben and the timing in which he appeared; I felt he was an antagonist that was not needed. Forged was a decent story but I didn't find it to be as good and as loving a story as Bent.

Another wonderful book from Sean Michael
I love the Hammer series and this book is as good as the first. Definately worth buying. I love the relationship between Simon and Jeremy and how well they came together. I most definately recommend getting this if you are at all interrested in bdsm, or even trying it if you aren't sure. There is definately a wonderful plot behind all the sex and it's well worth reading if just for that.
