Favourite Irish Legends includes three of the most famous Irish legends in English with parallel text in Irish. 'The Children of Lir' ('Leanai Lir') is accompanied by 'Balor of the Evil Eye' ('Balor Drochshuile') and the beautiful, tragic 'Wooing of Etain' ('Toraiocht Etain'). The book is a unique introduction to the legends, bringing them to life both in English and in Irish.

A gem for Irish students
What Bairbre McCarthy has done with this volume, is present selected Irish legends with the Irish and English pages printed facing each other, allowing one to read and either text (or both).
I like this technique; it allows the reader to see the Irish, page for page with the English translation. It gratifies the curious and assists the student at the same time. Friends, who speak Irish, tell me that the English translations are accurate.
If you enjoy Irish stories, or are learning to speak and read Irish, then I suggest that you add this little volume to your collection.
